Waiting for Spring

They're ready. The lake just isn't.

A row of colourful canoes — red, blue, silver, purple, and green — lie hull-up on a weathered driftwood rack at the snowy shore, their bold colours popping against the white landscape. Bare-branched aspens line the far shore, their pale trunks reflected in the still, partially frozen water. Beyond, rolling mountains bask in the rich amber alpenglow of a late afternoon sun, their snow-dusted slopes burning orange and gold beneath a dramatic, cloud-swept sky.

Waiting for Spring captures that restless, hopeful in-between — when the paddlers are ready, the gear is out, and the only thing left to do is wait for the ice to agree.
